Targit - Business Intelligence

Business Intelligence

Which scenario can you relate to?

Scenario #1:
You need a report to see what the trends are in cross selling to existing customers. You call your CIO, and explain what you need. He spends hours programming and creating static reports, which compile information from the various relevant sources. The report gets put on your desk two days later, and you are busy putting out a new "fire". By the time you get around to looking at the cross sales report, you make some quick decisions based on "gut feelings" and an outdated report. Your decisions make no difference whatsoever to sales performance.

Scenario #2:
You open the cross-selling report (sent to you automatically every morning via email) and with several clicks of the mouse you notice a new trend developing. You send that screenshot to the sales team and point out the trend. The sales team agrees and immediately redirects their efforts to promote a certain product to a specific group of existing customers. A simple adjustment in where their efforts were focused increased sales of that product by 6%. Excellent decisions like this one are being made around the organization ... every day.

The scenarios above relate primarily to the sales and marketing department, but there are just as many examples to be made in manufacturing, logistics, finance and banking, slick streaming, etc. And because Business Intelligence allows you to combine the data your company has in existing databases, the opportunities are endless. That is business intelligence.

Having the best and most expensive computer systems on the market is not enough when you cannot use the stored information in a fast and efficient manner to help you in your daily decisions.

Below is a drawing, which shows how the Business Intelligence software centralizes data from other systems:
